Sabbath Elevators Override

Did you know that you can override the sabbath function? When the elevator is on the ground floor, get in quick and press and hold the button for your floor. Don't release it until the doors close and the elevator starts moving, then you can release it.

Do you like our new Bridge?

I don't. It's too big and dominates the view of the park. I remember the old bridge. It was relatively inconspicuous and went directly across the FDR. Why is the new bridge at an angle? That meant it has to be twice as long (and presumably twice as expensive to build) as the old one. It looks like an engineer had a set budget to use and went overboard in order to use it up.

STOP THE CHOP

URGENT – ACT NOW: Send a letter to your NYS reps now about an important helicopter noise bill!

The New York State Legislature is currently considering a bill (S7216 / A7638) that would markedly reduce helicopter noise and pollution over the NYC metropolitan area: a noise tax on all nonessential helicopter and seaplane flights. The tax would be applied on a per-seat or per-flight basis, whichever is higher, and all proceeds (anticipated to be upwards of $20 million) would be dedicated to the state's Environmental Protection Fund.

With the legislative session wrapping up on June 6, we urgently need your help to gather as many cosponsors as possible in the Assembly and Senate! For NYS residents, we've prepared a simple online form that will draft and send a message to your Assembly Member and Senator. We encourage you to also edit the letter and add your own experience – the more personalized, the more likely it is your letter will encourage your legislators to support the bil! Please help us drum up support for this bill and help encourage its passage this session by sending a letter now!

Send Your Letter Now

Thank you in advance for your participation, and as always please forward this action to any NY-based family, friends, or neighbors (anywhere in NYS; they do not need to live in NYC!) impacted by nonessential helicopter noise in the NYC area!

Help us spread the word

Help stop the chop! Forward this email to any family, friends, or neighbors who may be impacted by helicopter noise and traffic in the NYC region. We also have a flyer you can post in your building. With enough voices, this is a fight we can win!

Stop the Chop NY/NJ is a grassroots organization dedicated to the elimination of nonessential helicopters from the New York metropolitan area. Nonessential (tourist, charter and commuter) helicopter flights dramatically reduce the quality of life for millions of people in the New York metropolitan area. They pollute our environment, pose significant safety risks, harm our children, and make us miserable.

Stop the Chop NY/NJ is an all-voluntary Board and your tax-deductible donation helps us with costs associated with outreach, advocacy, education and administrative fees.
